Dear Mr. BBC,
The closure of BBC 6 Music is a contradiction of the director-general's proposal to broadcast 'inspiring' music (and drama and comedy). While Radio 1 and Radio 2 offer 'all-audience-friendly' music, I wouldn't describe the vast majority of what is played on 1 and 2 as being particularly inspiring, it is simply music that is designed to be sung-along or danced to, along with discussions broadcast that have the purpose of entertaining and informing, on Radio 1 and 2 respectively. 6Music features inspiring music and inspiring presenters who are real musicians and artists themselves. Listeners of 6music appreciate that a piece of music can be an art-form and something more than a 3 minute, tap-your-feet, sing-a-long moneymaker. Losing 6music would be a great shame and render my DAB radio useless. Surely 6music isn't so expensive to run? Maybe you could ask the gents over at TopGear if they wouldn't mind only going on 5 holidays this year as opposed to the usual 12?
